Notification service currently stores only new (unread) notifications for the user, while all (including old) notifications are being retrieved from the activity service. There are several reasons why this is not good.
The new version of the notifications service will store all notifications on the notifications-service. Unread notifications will be marked with a flag. This will also enable some improvements in the platform UI, like adding the possibility for users to delete notifications from the list.
