update the multilingual interface when new components have been encoded

Step 0. Ask for the project manager role from Darya Tarasowa or Klaas Andries de Graaf

Step 1. Create the default.json file:

  • npm run build (this step is not always necessary)
  • wait until it is built
  • exit
  • npm run build:lang
  • npm run langs

Step 2. In Transifex, update the resource file with the newly created (click Update source file button and agree to proceed)

Resources → default.json → Update source file

This will merge the old and new versions of default.json files. The lines which already had a translation and have not changed will stay translated. The new lines will be added, and the removed lines (the ones which no longer exist in the new default.json) will be deleted (together with its translation) from all languages.

Step 3. Add an announcement for the translators:

Resources → default.json → Add announcement

Step 4. Re-open task 1491 in JIRA and all its subtasks

Step 5. Wait until the translators finish their job.

Step 6. Download the translations as a zip:

Resources → default.json →

Step 7. Extract the files, rename them to the format <language_code>.json (e.g. de.json), without country code and copy to the /intl directory of the project.

Do not forget to do that also for slidewiki_en_GB.json file (rename it to en.json), as it is the translation of default.json to proper English, thanks, Abi James

The slidewiki_en.json file does not have to be renamed

Step 8. Check the platform, open a PR and push people to merge it.

Step 9. Eat or drink something nice=)
